ISLAMABAD: Car cell of Model Customs Collectorate, Islamabad has impounded non-duty paid Toyota Hiace vehicle from Fateh Jhang GT Road under value of Rs2 million.
According to details told by Deputy Collector Shahid Jan while he was talking with Customs Today that the anti-smuggling car cell received information through its source that a non-duty paid vehicle registration number JF 4051 coming from Quetta to the Capital (Islamabad) with fake documentation.
In pursuance of information the car cell reached at Fateh Jhang area under jurisdiction customs collectorate, the custom staff intercepted the said vehicle Toyota Hiace model 2007. The squad asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but the owner failed to show any relevant documents.
After investigation the Squad found that seized Toyota Hiace’s documents were faked which was abducted in time by the car cell Superintend Chaudhry Safdar and Inspector Khalid Sammad. The customs staff impounded the vehicle under Customs Act 1969 and the documents of vehicle sent for further examination to I&P department.
Sources said that FBR has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to curb the smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles.
It is also told that FIR has been registered against the offender to having fake documented NDP vehicle and further investigation is under process.
