Customs car cell impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hiace worth Rs 2m

ISLAMABAD: The car cell of the Customs Collectorate has impounds a non-duty paid Toyota Hiace worth Rs 2 million on GT Road near Fateh Jang.

Talking to Customs Today, Collector Shahid Jan said that the car cell received information that a non-duty paid vehicle, with fake registration number JF 4051 and model 2007, is coming from Quetta and is heading towards the federal capital.

In pursuance of the information, the car cell intercepted the vehicle near Fateh Jang and asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any relevant documents.

After the investigation, Superintendent Chaudhary Safdar and Inspector Khalid Sammad impounded the vehicle under Customs Act 1969 and sent the documents to the I&P Department for further examination.

The sources said that FBR has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to arrest smugglers and to curb the transfer of non-duty paid vehicles.

It is also told that FIR has been registered case against the owner and further investigations are under process the sources said.
