HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 530 satellite receivers, electronics items worth Rs 2.06 million involving duty /taxes amounting to Rs. 533, 970 during a raid.
Following the instructions of Karachi Customs Intelligence director, the field investigation unit is taking stern action against the smugglers in the region, officials said, adding that all possible measures were being taken to save the national economy from the illegal trade.
As per details, the intelligence officials acting received through Deputy Superintendent Sikandar Hayat Khanzada that a huge quantity of non-duty paid electronics was being supplied out of city on whiehc the officials conducted a raid to foil the smuggling attempt in the region.
The intelligence team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sikandar Hayat Khanzada, Intelligence Officer irfan Ghani, Ahmed Hussain Junejo, Sepyes Noshad Alimuddin, Azam Ali Chandio and Driver Haneef Soomro established checkpoint at the exit point of the city.
The officials intercepted a Suzuki vehicle near old Bakrmandi, Hyderabad for checking that led to the recovery of 530 satellite receivers model Echo Link 210, dish antenna receivers. The team asked the driver about customs clearance documents, but he remained failed to produce the same. Therefore, the officials seized all electronics items worth Rs 2.06 million under customs laws and registered a case against the accused driver.
Officials said that the case will be sent to the Customs Adjudication after making seizure report in the case for further legal action against the suspect.
