LAHORE: The Ravian Forensic Society (RFA) Tuesday held a public awareness seminar on “Combating Fake Currency Notes” at the Government College University, Lahore in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
A group of experts from SBP comprising Kanwaal Kaleem, Sumeran and Arif Mehmood briefed the faculty members and students about the security features, characteristics and composition of the country’s currency notes.
GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman said the university had planned to conduct a series of awareness seminars to increase the understanding of students on issues varying from social, economic to health. Society’s adviser Dr Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh briefed the students on currency notes and also informed them about the history of currency. RFA Advisor Dr Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh told students about history of currency notes and their benefits.
Addressing the seminar, the SBP experts said that Pakistan’s currency notes had the world’s best security features and their exact copy was yet impossible due to geometrical features, electrotype watermarks, rainbow printing, ant-scan areas, cylinder mold and several other hidden features. They said that geometrical portraits of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had never been exactly copied in fake note besides several other characteristics regarding paper, thickness and colour of currency notes. They said that the country’s currency notes were made from cotton and due several processes had high resistance to environmental conditions. The bank experts also told that the state bank accepted the claim of even burnt notes if you had the 51 percent portion of the note.
