Multan Customs seizes, vehicles, auto parts worth Rs 12m

MULTAN: The anti-smuggling organization of Model Customs Collectorate, Multan has seized foreign origin goods and auto parts worth Rs 12 million on mis-declaration.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich formed special teams of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) comprising Inspector Syed Muhammad Ali Rizvi, Inspector Ghulam Asghar, Inspector Zafar Iqbal  and others to conduct an operation against smuggling of goods from Dera Ghazi Khan Region.

A Multan Customs team impounded three Hino trucks having registration number TKE/525 Quetta, TKN /779 and C/3426 Bannu. The trucks were loaded with smuggled goods. The driver the said vehicles produced import documents claiming that they are importing iron scrap which includes 2,600 kilogram nut bolts, 2,000 kilogram iron and steel scrap from Afghanistan and Iran. The team found discrepancies during the verification of goods declaration. The importer was trying to smuggle various goods which comprised auto parts including engines, shocks, doors, serviceable parts and others in the garb of iron scrap loaded in the trucks.

The  trucks were impounded by the Multan Customs on the basis of misdeclaration from importer along with their vehicles under the Customs act 1969.
