ASO seizes huge quantity of smuggled items worth Rs26.8m

ISLAMABAD: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized various smuggled items under value of Rs26.817 million including five offending vehicles during first 10 days of November financial year 2016-17.

According to details told by Deputy Collector Shahid Jan that performance of ASO was excellent during first 10 days of November. He said that In the impounded vehicles included Hino Truck TKN-844, Hino Truck-C-2260, Nissan Truck C-1811, Suzuki TT-701 and Toyota Corolla car Rs8 million.

He added that during the said period ASO seized different type of dismantle half cut 03 vitz cars and 5 Suzuki pickups worth Rs3.55 million.

Jan said that that FBR directed Customs Collectorate headquarter to adopt zero tolerance policy against smugglers of offending vehicles and smugglers of NDP vehicles as for as tax evaders and smugglers.

He said that ASO seized miscellaneous goods under value of Rs1.029 million during first four months of financial year 2016-17, he added that ASO Islamabad is working on high moral ground because the the department has been exceed it target of first quarter of FY16-17.

He added that ASO under supervision of Collector Dr. Arslan and Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib working very hard and used sophisticated techniques, modern vehicles and other modern facilities like laptops and latest vehicles etc.

He said that most of the items seized during first four months of FY16-17 were comprises as cloth, food grains, black tea, tires/tubes, auto parts, mobil oil, cigarettes, electronic goods, blankets, and miscellaneous goods, and also seized 41 offending vehicles.

Jan said that during month of July FY 16-17 the ASO seized smuggled goods worth Rs23.930 million as for as during month of August value of seized items was Rs31.338 million and during month of September FY16-17 ASO seized smuggled goods under value of Rs50.962 million.
