Reference values of tennis ball, cigarette lighters issued

KARACHI: Directorate General of Customs Valuation has issued the reference values for lawn tennis ball and disposable gas/cigarette lighters.

This Directorate General has initiated an exercise to develop database values for different items wherein it has been observed that declarations are wide range and do not correctly reflect values of the items as traded in the international market.

During the scrutiny of previous clearance data, it has been observed that lawn tennis ball falling under PCT headings 9506.6100, are being assessed at different values and certain transactions are on very low side.

The previous clearance data also showed that disposable gas/cigarette lighters falling under PCT Headings 9613.1000, are being assessed at different values and certain transactions are on very low side.

This Directorate General, after carefully examining the clearance data, also conducted market inquiries to verify the authenticity of declarations. Online prices were also obtained to corroborate the findings of the market surveys.

Directorate General Customs Valuation, therefore, has found the customs values of lawn tennis ball of China origin @$0.35/kg and other origins @$0.45

Meanwhile, the office also found the customs values of disposable gas/cigarette lighters of China origin at $0.12/kg, Far East origin $0.15/kg and other origins at $0.18.

These values are, however, for reference/guidance only and final assessment may please be made after considering other factors which have bearing on the customs value.

The copy of notification has been forwarded to the Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East, West, Port Qasim, Preventive of Karachi, Lahore Customs Appraisement and Preventive, and all other collectortes of country for implementation of latest values.
