ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal held hearing of over a dozen customs references during third week of November and reserved verdict in five cases.
Customs Appellate Tribunal’s bench, comprising Chairman Manzoor Hussain Malik and Technical Member Ziauddin Wazir heard the customs references.
The bench, heard cases filed by M/s Trade Master, Abid Butt, M/s Saleem Silk Centre, M/s Five Star Trading, M/s Luner Technologies, Al Sheikh Corporation, M/s Sun Diplomatic Bounded Warehouse and M/s Nayatel Private Limited, M/s Malik Jehangir, M/s Pak Gulf Construction Private Limited, M/s Frontier Cable, M/s Mughal Steel, Raja Nabeel Razaq and others.
The bench reserved decision on references filed by M/s Pak Gulf Construction Private Limited, M/s Frontier Cable, M/s Mughal Steel and Raja Nabeel Razaq and M/s Malik Jehangir.
M/S Pak Gulf Construction Private Limited had filed a case for release of imported panel sheets, commonly used for buildings outer renovation. The bench reserved the decision after receiving report from an evaluation committee. The appellant had filed the cases against Islamabad Customs.
M/s Frontier Cable had filed a case challenging revaluation of imported goods. The appellant had filed the case against Islamabad Customs.
M/s Mughal Steel also had filed the cases against the Islamabad Customs regarding release of imported goods worth over Rs 5 million.
Raja Nabeel Razaq had filed a case seeking release of vehicle confiscated by the customs authorities. This case was filed against Customs Intelligence and Investigation. The bench reserved the decision after hearing arguments from sides and submission of documents by the department.
The bench also reserved decision in a case filed by M/s Malik Jehangir after hearing the arguments from sides who had also submitted relating documents. The appellant had challenged confiscation of a vehicle allegedly being used for smuggling.
Majority of these cases had been filed in 2016 and the bench would hold hearing of them for the first time. The bench directed the parties to submit all available documents before the tribunal by next date of hearing.
