SHC seek remarks from tax authorities on appeal filed M/s SAB Associates

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the customs authorities to file para-wise comments on an appeal filed by M/s SAB Associates, seeking restoration of its license which was suspended by the Customs Department due to non-payment of dues.

While the hearing of an appeal, a two-member bench, comprising Justice Irfan Sadat Khan and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan fixed November 30, 2016 as the date of hearing.

Earlier, counsel for the applicant stated that applicant is a customs clearing agent in accordance with the customs licensing rules notified vide SRO498(1)/2009 dated 13/06/2009.

Counsel further stated custom authorities had suspended the license of the applicant dated 7/11/2014 on the failure to pay Rs 25,000, later applicant had paid said amount along with the adjudged amount against the applicant and requested the respondents for restoration of its license, however, respondents declined his request. Therefore as being aggrieved appeal before concerned authorities which was dismissed.

Citing additional collector of Customs Collectorate Appraisement West, Afghan Terminal Camp, chairman Federal Board of Revenue as respondents, applicant pleaded the court to restore its license.
