He said that the lack of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad was creating difficulties in ensuring the supply of quality meat that meets proper hygiene and food safety standards. He added that transporting livestock and meat to slaughterhouses located far outside the city increases operational costs, which ultimately places an additional financial burden on consumers.

Khurshid Ahmed Qureshi emphasized that establishing a modern, well-equipped and standardized slaughterhouse in Islamabad was essential not only to ensure the availability of clean and hygienic meat for residents but also to help increase Pakistan’s meat exports.

He also appealed to Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi to issue directives for the establishment of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad.

President ICCI Muhammad Zakaria Akbar Zia said that the establishment of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad was a longstanding demand of both citizens and the  business community, which had remained pending for several years.

He assured the delegation that the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry would raise this important issue at the relevant forums in the interest of citizens and concerned business sectors and play its role in ensuring the construction of a modern, standardized slaughterhouse in Islamabad at the earliest.
