Custom Court sends suspect on physical remand in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi sent an accused person namely as Waseem Khan on physical remand till November 28, 2016 in a case of mis- declaration.

During the hearing, Investigation Officer Ashfaq-ur-Rehman produced the accused person before the court and stated that in compliance of warrant of arrest dated October 15, 2016 issued by this court, absconding accused person /importer Waseem Khan, owner of a firm, M/s Jacquard International Karachi was arrested on November 19, 2016. The officer requested the court for his physical remand; therefore, the court granted his plea.

It needs to be mentioned that above named accused person was absconder from last date of hearing, when the court had issued warrant of his arrest.

Meanwhile, accused Shah Rukh Jamal, Noman Abdul Rauf and Arif Humayun are on bail in this case.

According to the prosecution, case was registered against accused persons on violation of Section 16, 32 (1), 32 (2) 32A, and 79 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses 9, 14, 14A, and 46 of Section 156 (1) of the Customs Act read with Import and Export (control) Act, 1950.
