ASO impounds Land Cruiser V8 worth Rs 4 million

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has impounded a non-duty paid vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser-V8 white colour worth Rs 4 million involving millions of rupees duty and taxes during an action in Hyderabad

As per the details, Hyderabad Customs Collector Aghah Shahid Majeed received information that a non-duty paid vehicle is plying on the roads. After receiving information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Additional Collector Omer Shasfique.

The ASO team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sikandar Akbar Panhwar, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Shafi Muhammad Jamali, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Essa, Muhammad Shareef and others participated in the operation.

The ASO team intercepted the vehicle bearing Registration No. BF-9776 near Mirpur Khas Road, Hyderabad. The officials asked the driver to produce documents showing the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle. However the driver could not show any documents to the customs officials on which the vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser V8 was impounded by the authorities following the prevailing customs law. After making the seizure report, the ASO team deposited the impounded smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser V8 to Hyderabad State Warehouse.

Officials said that the case will be sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action against the suspect. They said that vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on the roads, adding that all possible measures will be taken to curb the smuggling in the region by using all available resources.
