Unit-VI collects Rs 9.4 from new taxpayers: Deputy Commissioner Faizan Ali Zaidi

LAHORE: Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II), Zone-I, Unit -VI collected Rs 9.4 from new taxpayers and Rs 0.75 million through income support levy which was imposed by the government of Pakistan under the Income Tax Ordinance 2016.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Zone-I Syed Faizan Ali Zaidi during an exclusive interview with Customs Today.

He said that Regional Tax Office-II is collecting taxes under circle system. Zaidi explained that under the circle system any officer is responsible for audit, enforcement and legal matters of any case which is most effective from the previous system because the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has given full authority to officers regarding any case.

Talking about jurisdiction, Faizan Ali said that Zone-VI collect taxes from Nishter Town, and also collect taxes from traders, importers, manufactures, retailers and wholesalers those having business in Nishter Town.

Deputy Commissioner said that 650 income taxes and 150 sales tax cases came in Active Taxpayers List (ATL) from Unit-VI collect taxes.

He said that the one-I of Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) is using all available resources to bring more taxpayers in tax net.  He said that Unit-VI of zone-I has collected Rs 9.4 million from new taxpayers under BTB  and registers fraud cases without those who claims for zero rated sector because textile, leather, surgical, sports and carpet exporters are exempted from taxes.

He told that he is working as focal person of Broadening of Tax Based (BTB) in Zone–I of Regional Tax Office-II.

Faizan said that the mapping of general public is difficult for BTB but he always collect information through withholding, buying and selling of properties and Excise and Taxation department and he takes action for  Broadening of Tax Based (BTB) for huge collection and strengthen national economy.

He told that RTO-II zone-I formed teams for surprise visits of the companies to check and monitor the companies. He said that during surprise visits RTO-II teams also detected tax evasion and recovered marginable amount.

Answering a question, Faizan said that latest software introduce by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Integrated Risk Information System ‘IRIS’ make easy to understand all the taxation system.

He said that tax collection is difficult from individuals but RTO-II zone-VI working efficiently and collecting more taxes to meet revenue collection target.

Faizan Ali added that under the supervision, confidence and motivation by the Chief Commissioner RTO-II Khawaja Adnan Zaheer RTO showed outstanding performance and using all available resources to meet revenue collection target for current Fiscal Year 2016-17.

Replying a question he said that he always discussed important matters with seniors on daily basis and learns from their experiences. He said that Chief Commissioner Khawaja Adnan Zaheer and Commissioner Dr Sarmad Qureshi are extending all out support to zone-VI for assigning their duties.

He said that trust-based working atmosphere is key to success. For capacity building of the officials, training workshop must be arranged to discuss different issues of tax laws, he added.

He said that Unit-VI teams expedited their efforts to enhance revenue generation and they are optimistic that they will achieve revenue collection target of current FY 2016-17.
