Diesel smuggling: Custom Court seeks charge sheet against suspects

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi directed the investigation officer to submit charge sheet against the accused persons namely as Abdul Azizand Niaz Muhammad who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle 22,000 litters Iranian diesel.

During the hearing, investigation officer produced the accused persons before the court and informed that on November 06, 2016 on credible information customs staff intercepted the Hino dumper bearing Registration No TKV-172 near Mai Ghari, Karachi and recovered 22,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel and after the formalities same was seized and above named accused persons were arrested by the customs authorities.

The investigation officer further informed the court that one accused namely as Haji Abdulla is absconder (said to be owner of recovered diesel oil valuing to Rs 1.584 million and Hino dumper worth 6.584 million).

He requested the court may grant some time for submit charge sheet in this case. After hearing, the court granted time and directed the investigation officer to complete the investigation and arrest the absconding accused. The court also directed the investigation officer to submit charge sheet till next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered complainant by Mashooq Ali Jakharani, preventive officer on violation of Section 2 (s) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses (8) (89) of Section 156 (I) ibid.
