Sukkur Excise seizes 30kg charas, arm cache

KARACHI: Sukkur Excise and Taxation Department has seized 30-kilogram charas and a large quantity of arms and ammunition from a truck at Kamboo Shaheed check-post at Sindh-Punjab border.

Excise and Taxation Department team, led by Jam Ameer Ali Dahar, recovered arms and ammunition from the truck (LEI 9595) loaded with 16 rifles, 82 pistols, 10 magazines and 21,500 live rifle rounds. However, the suspects taking advantage of darkness managed to escape, said a statement.

Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla declared the raid a big success, and announced appreciation certificates for the E&T department’s team. He directed the officers posted at Sindh-Punjab or Sindh-Balochistan borders to increase vigilance in order to foil any attempt to bring drugs or ammunition into Sindh province.
