SHC seeks comments from tax authorities over Toyota Prado, Jeep case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notice to the tax authorities and deputy attorney general of Pakistan on a constitutional petition filed by Khush Rang Khan against harassment by an official over the alleged smuggled Pearl white Toyota Prado, Jeep Model 2012.

While the hearing of the petition, a two-member bench comprising Justice Irfan Sadat Khan and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan also directed them to file their respective comments on the next date of hearing. The court adjourned the hearing for December 07, 2016.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that he purchased a vehicle registration no BF-9218, Toyota Prado, Jeep Model 2012 pearl white from Razi Khan through sale agreement dated Feb 25, 2016 and got transferred the said vehicle in his name after payment of required fees and taxes before the up till June 2016.

The petitioner informed the court that a ‘purported’ tax officer stopped the petitioner on road and without any notice or reason tried to snatch and seize the vehicle without disclosing any reason on which petitioner resisted and refused to hand over his vehicle to the officer of the tax department.
