SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala, has collected Rs 4 million by auctioning two impounded vehicles and other confiscated items.
Reportedly, Customs Intelligence Director General Shaukat Ali has directed the deputy directors of department to ensure thrice auction in a month, as the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced this policy of auction.
However, Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan made a plan to auction impounded vehicles and confiscated items, which was approved by the directorate. After the approval of summary of the auction, the deputy director instructed Assistant Director Itrat Hussain to auction the vehicles and smuggled items.
The assistant director constituted a committee for auction, comprising Superintendent Tariq Rafique, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar and office Superintendent Sajjad Rubbani.
The committee started the auction of impounded vehicles and sold Toyota Prado and Toyota Hilux for Rs and other seized items for Rs 1.8 million. The five parties participated in the auction and three parties offered reasonable bid for the presented items.
The successful parties will be bound to pay 1/3 of the amount within 7 days. After the payment of amount, the parties will be authorised to receive the vehicles and items from the warehouse.
An official of the department told Customs Today that the department is 100 percent implementing the policy of FBR regarding the auction. He informed that the auction was scheduled for November 26, but due to weekly holiday, it was conducted on November 30.
