FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication adjourned hearing of 68 seizure cases worth Rs 100.739 million during the month of October, 2016.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed has adjourned hearing of three cases worth Rs 8.015 million pertaining to the seizures of various items.
These items includes different brand of vehicles, Land Cruiser, Vitz car, ladies fabrics, children shoes, television, mobile phones, remote etc . The cases were made by customs authorities. The collector directed the owners of seized goods and their counsel to present their arguments in next hearing.
Furthermore, Additional Collector Beelam ur Remzan also adjourned hearing of 24 cases worth Rs 51.389 million, while Deputy Collector Asma Hameed adjourned 41 cases involving Rs 41.335 million.
Most of the adjourned seizure cases were detected and registered by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation, while few cases were made by the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO).
The seizure cases pertaining to smuggled vehicles, mobile phones, base oil, tryes, tubes and auto parts were heard by the Customs Adjudication. Sources said that Collector Raja Tahir hears cases involving Rs 80.3 million.
The Customs Adjudication Collectorate Collector Raja Tahir Majeed also heard two cases worth Rs 80.3 million against smugglers. These cases were filed by Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Mianwali and Custom Intelligence and Investigation.
Sources said that Raja Tahir heard one case forwarded by Mianwali ASO against the accused persons named Muhammad Iqbal who brought Iranian origin ceramic tiles involving customs duty and taxes worth Rs 4349172. These items brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes through in authorized way.
