PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to implement a cashless payment system across the province, directing all business establishments and regulated sectors to adopt digital payment mechanisms.

The Finance Department has instructed all administrative heads across the province to ensure full compliance with digital payment systems within businesses, shops, and other regulated entities operating under their respective jurisdictions.

According to the department, strict action will be taken against any business or institution that refuses to accept digital payments.

Under the new policy, all commercial centres and retail outlets have been directed to prominently display the Raast QR code, enabling customers to make payments conveniently through their mobile phones.

The Finance Department further clarified that businesses that have not yet obtained a Raast QR code must acquire one free of charge from their respective banks and install it at their shops and commercial premises without delay.

The department warned that complaints regarding refusal to accept digital payments, or failure to implement the system, could result in legal action, including the imposition of fines, against the concerned businesses.

The move is aimed at promoting digital financial transactions, improving transparency, and encouraging the use of secure and convenient payment methods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
