Dar to preside over meeting to review revenue collection target today

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will preside over a special meeting on Saturday (today) in the Ministry of Finance to review revenue collection target of the current fiscal year 2016-17.

Sources told Customs Today that the participants of the meeting also reviewed the overall performance of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from (July to November 30) and will finalize their recommendations on a number of issues. Sources said that FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan and other high officials will also attend the meting.

Sources said that there are strong chances that government will decrease revenue collection target set for Fiscal Year 2016-17, while on the other hand FBR high officials will apprise the participants about measures adopted by FBR to collect revenue during current fiscal year.

Prominent among those who will attend the meeting includes Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan Secretary Finance Waqar Masood, chairman FBR Nisar Mohammad Khan, Member Inland Revenue Dr. Mohammad Irshad, Member Customs Nasir Masroor Ahmed, Member Strategic Planning and Information Dr. Mohammad Iqbal and other high officials. Sources said that FBR Member Inland because due to his  Revenue Policy Rehmatullah Wazir will not attend the meeting and Member Inland Revenue Operations Dr. Mohammad Irshad will brief the participants about the revenue collection measures adopted by FBR.
