MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized non-duty paid vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs 33.3 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 25.9 million during November 2016 during various anti-smuggling activities.
The Multan Customs Intelligence conducted massive crackdown against the smuggled goods on the direction of Director Zeba Hai in Multan, Sadiqabad and Dera Ghazi Khan. The department formed 24 various seizure cases of non-duty paid vehicles and items during the said period.
Six various seizure cases worth Rs 9.3 million were made by Customs Intelligence in the Multan for the duration of November. The department impounded 9 different vehicles, including Toyota Fielder, Suzuki Alto, Toyota Corolla X, Hino Truck along with loaded items and oil tankers filled with 11,000 liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs 15.7 million from Dera Ghazi Khan.
As many as seven various seizure cases of Rs 10.70 million were formed in Sadiqabad region. The Customs Intelligence has established check post in Sadiqabad to curb smuggling of goods from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and it conducted various intelligence base anti-smuggling activities in the region.
The Customs Intelligence teams of Sadiqabad region impounded five smuggled vehicles worth Rs 6.7 million in November, besides seizing tyres, auto parts and other goods during the said period.
Seizure reports in many cases have been forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
officials said that the Multan Customs Intelligence was taking stern action against the smuggling of goods and vehicles in order to save national economy.
