ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to approach the attorney general of Pakistan for speedy decision of tax cases pending in various courts of the country.
FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has appointed Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director Khawja Tanveer and Member Legal Hafiz Muhammad Ali to contact with and the attorney general and sort out the pending cases.
Sources told Customs Today that thousands of cases were pending before various courts, covering an amount of Rs 50 billion.
The chairman also urged the all collectors and customs adjudications to decide the pending cases on priority basis. Sources said that 1,500 cases were pending in high courts alone.
In a meeting, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also highlighted the matter of pending case and shortfall in revenues.
