FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded non duty paid vehicles and other contraband items valued at Rs 24,418,249 in November 2016.
Sources told Customs Today that ASO team following the directions of Collector Zulifkar Ali Chaudhary conducted many raids to foil smuggling bids and seized foreign origin cloth (2038 kilograms ) worth Rs 1385250, Indian tea (175 kilograms) worth Rs, 27000, tyres and tubes (70 numbers) Rs 350000, auto spare parts Rs 475500, electronic goods Rs, 732508, foreign origin blankets (1700 numbers ) Rs 450000, and other goods worth Rs 2247991 during the said period.
During November, the ASO impounded nine vehicles worth Rs 7700000 including, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Vitz car, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Crown car, Toyota Hiace van, Isuzu Truck and others.
MCC Faisalabad ASO covers different regions including Jhang, Mianwali, Sara-e-Muhajir, Sargodha and Faisalabad where field units are working to curb the smuggling activities in their respective regions.
Sources said that Collector Chaudhary Zulfikar hailed the performance of the Collectorate and hoped that the Collectorate would achieve 100 percent target of revenue collection by the end of current fiscal year under all heads. The ASO team who seized smuggled goods consisted Superintendent Muhammad Saeed Akhtar Joiya Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.
