MULTAN: Collector Sarfraz Ahmed Waraich has said that the Customs Department, Airport Security Force, FIA, and other law-enforcement agencies have been alerted at Multan international airport to foil any attempt to smuggle currency and gold.
While talking to media, the Collector said that the government has already launched a crackdown against illegal money changers at the airports. “As a result of this crackdown against unscrupulous elements, the rupee-dollar parity has improved by rupee one,” he added.
Waraich said that on the special instructions of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan, all the Customs collectorates and Directorate General of Customs Intelligence have taken measures to curb the smuggling of gold and US dollars.
