ASO foils bid to smuggle contraband items worth millions of rupees

KARACHI: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled a bid to smuggle contraband items worth millions of rupees.

According to details, the ASO raided a bus at Jacobabad and seized contraband items, including hashish, non-duty paid cigarettes and Indian gutka worth millions of rupees.

Source informed Customs Today that the ASO officials intercepted the bus at a check post near Jacobabad and recovered hundreds of cartons of cigarettes of Oscar Blue and Pine Light brands, Indian gutka, Pan Parag and hashish. The bus was coming from Quetta to Hyderabad.

The ASO has lodged a case and investigation has been started. On the other hand, the bus has been taken into the custody whereas the arrested bus driver and a helper are being interrogated.
