Gujranwala Customs Intelligence confiscates Iranian cloth

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala Reign has confiscated Iranian cloth worth Rs100,000 during vehicle checking on Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

Under the directions of Assistant Director Itrat Hussain, the Superintendent Tariq Rafique constituted a team under the supervision of Intelligence Inspector Saad Ullah to check vehicles under Iran Transit Trade. The said Inspector along with his team members including constables Usama, Shafique, Mubashir, Boota started the checking of vehicles on GT Road.

During the checking of vehicles, the team intercepted a van bearing registration number RIR-349-06 which was coming from Rawalpindi and going to Narowal via Sialkot. During the search of the vehicle, the team recovered Iranian cloth worth Rs100,000.

The team asked driver Rasheed about booking papers of recovered cloth but he was failed to produce the documents. He told that the cloth was loaded from Bus Stand Pir Wadhai of Rawalpindi and he had no idea about booking papers.

The team confiscated the cloth and released the driver with van. The team will forward the case before the Adjudication court for hearing. If the court announces judgment in the favor of customs intelligence then the department will authorize to auction cloth as per customs law and customs Act 1969.
