ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized eight offending vehicles, one non-customs paid vehicle and various types of smuggled goods worth Rs 15.243 million from December 3 to December 9 of the current financial year.
Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the ASO showed outstanding performance during the period by seizing eight offending vehicles worth Rs 9.8 million.

He added that the ASO seized one non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs 0.24 million, 4,859 yard foreign origin fabric worth Rs 3.11 million, 8,560 kilograms food grains worth Rs 0.62 million and 75 tyres and tubes worth Rs 0.31 million during the period.
Shahid Jan said that the ASO also seized various type of auto spare parts worth Rs 0.032 million, 700 dandas of foreign origin fake cigarettes worth Rs 0.294 million, 740 kilogram electronic goods worth Rs 0.777 million, and miscellaneous goods worth Rs 0.045 million during the period.
He added that during the period, the ASO seized one non-duty Mitsubishi Pajero, passenger buses, Mehran car, Corolla car, Hino bus, and a mini Mazda truck. The ASO is also making heavy crackdown on smugglers and tax evaders.
He said that with the guidance of Collector Dr Arslan and Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira, the Preventive department is performing well and is seizing goods on daily basis. He added that the MCC will not only meet its assigned target for the December but will surpass the given revenue target of the second quarter of the current financial year.
