DG I&I impounds non-duty paid Honda car from Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The anti-smuggling staff of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Rawalpindi, has converted the detention of a Honda Vti car into seizure.

Sources told Customs Today that as per verification data a Honda Saloon engine no. D15Y3-1028553 stands registered against registration no. AJC 916 and nobody appeared in this office nor produced any legal documents in respect of the detained vehicle.

Therefore, detention of Honda Civic car bearing fake registration no. AJC 916 and engine no. D167-5001828 has been converted into seizure under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 for being smuggled one in violation of sections 2(s) and 16 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with section 3(1) of Import and Exports (Control) Act ,1950.

Notice under section 171 ibid is also pasted on the notice board and a copy is being sent to incharge of Police Station Chaklala Scheme III Rawalpindi.

It is pertinent to mention here that the anti-smuggling staff of the Customs I&I had detained the vehicle a couple of days ago, which was parked at Chaklala Scheme III Rawalpindi. The driver of the vehicle had failed to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle.
