Customs ASO seizes smuggled goods, vehicles worth Rs 25.37m in first 15 days of Dec

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods and vehicles worth Rs 25.37 million during first 15 days of December.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the ASO is using all available resources to curb smuggling in the region. He said that during the above said period the Collectorate impounded 12 offending vehicles worth Rs 13.4 million while the ASO seized two non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 2.74 million.

Shahid Jan said that during the above said period the ASO seized offending vehicles which included Mazda truck, Bedford truck, Hino truck, Toyota Corolla car, Santro car, passenger buses, Mehran car, Hino buses, Mazda mini truck adding that most of the offending vehicles were intercepted from GT Road Rawalpindi-Peshawar.

The deputy collector said that the ASO seized foreign origin fabric, food grains, tyres, tubes, auto spare parts, imported fake cigarettes, electronic goods and different kinds of other smuggled goods.

He said that during the above said period, the collectorate registered more than 25 cases of smuggled goods, adding that Collector Dr Arsalan Subuctgeen also directed to enhance checking on roads and adopt zero tolerance policy against smugglers.
