Multan Customs recovers huge quantity of liquor at Multan Airport

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate staff has recovered 16 bottles of foreign origin liquor during checking of luggage of passengers at Multan International Airport.

According to details, Multan Customs staff which have enhanced monitoring of the goods coming at the Multan International Airport to foil any attempt of smuggling. Customs staff deputed at the Multan International Airport checked the luggage of the passengers arrived from Dubai. During the examination process of the passengers luggage ,Customs staff recovered 16 various bottles of liquor brands which were placed in the luggage of passenger.

The liquor was recovered from the baggage of passenger who was identified as Matloob Ahmad and is resident of Toba Tek Singh. Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has detained the passenger after the recovery of foreign origin liquor but during interrogation they found that passenger was dual nationality holder of South Africa and Pakistan. The detained passenger also showed his South African passport to Customs authorities. Multan Customs authorities released said passenger after initial interrogation and seized foreign origin liquor.

It is also important to mention that Customs staff deployed at the Multan International Airport have adopted special measures to prevent any sort of currency smuggling and gold on the direction of Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich.

Customs staff have detected various attempts of smuggling due to their active role in the jurisdiction including cell phones, 14 kilograms gold and money laundering attempts.
