ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal will resume the hearing of a customs reference involving M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited on Thursday (today).

A division bench of the tribunal comprising members, Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan, will hear the case. The bench had adjourned the hearing last week after the respondent’s counsel sought time to furbish details of the case.

M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited had filed the case against Model Coollectorate of Customs, Islamabad in 2016.

M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited, through the petition, had challenged a decision announced by department’s adjudication for sustaining claims of recoverable customs duty of around Rs 40 million.

The tribunal had held the hearing of the matter last week and had adjourned for further arguments. The bench had asked the counsels involved ensure their presence before the bench on next date of hearing. Last week hearing of the case was adjourned owing to absence of main counsels from the tribunal. The tribune then had issued the directives through assisting counsels who had appeared instead of main counsels.
