Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan issues show cause to owners of smuggled almonds, vehicle

FAISALABAD: Additional Collector Adjudication Beelamur Ramzan has issued show-cause notices to the owners of seized non-duty paid vehicle and huge quantity of almonds worth Rs4.50 million.

According to details, the additional collector issued show cause notice to Abdullah for allegedly bringing smuggled almonds into Pakistan through illegal routes.

The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a trailer loaded with 9990 kilograms of almonds. The officials confiscated the almonds worth Rs1.85 million after finding discrepancies in documents.

Meanwhile Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali impounded a foreign origin non duty paid Honda Mark X Toyota  bearing registration no. -13-4819 involving customs duty and taxes amounting to Rs 2.65  million after the driver failed to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle.

The Customs Intelligence forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings. The adjudication authority also directed the owner to provide evidence otherwise the case will be decided on the basis of evidence available on demand.

The adjudication also directed the Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on next date along with relevant record.

Therefore additional collector customs Adjudication Beelumur Ramzan ordered the seized good and vehicle under clause 14 of the section 156 (1) , section 157(1) and 2 of the Customs Act 1969.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication expedited their efforts to decide pending cases on priority basis.
