ISLAMABAD: Saudi investor Asyad Group has expressed its commitment to expand its existing investments in Pakistan and explore new opportunities across several sectors, including the government’s upcoming airport privatisation programme.

Asyad Group Chief Executive Officer Ghassan Ahmed Amoudi met Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday to discuss the group’s existing investments, business expansion plans and potential new investment opportunities in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Saudi group described Pakistan as a long-term investment destination and assured the government of its intention to increase its economic footprint in the country.

The group also expressed interest in participating in Pakistan’s upcoming airport privatisation process and said it was working to bring together Saudi and international partners for potential involvement in airport operations.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed the continued interest of Saudi investors, saying the government’s privatisation programme was creating fresh opportunities for domestic and international investors.

The meeting also discussed the operations and future investment plans of Wafi Energy, an Asyad Group subsidiary operating in Pakistan.

Wafi Energy plans to further expand its retail network, storage infrastructure and digitalisation initiatives, while opportunities to increase investment and operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country are also under consideration.

Asyad Group also indicated an interest in exploring additional investment opportunities in Pakistan’s financial sector.

Aurangzeb told the delegation that Pakistan was making progress towards greater economic stability, with improvements in key economic indicators.

He said the government remained focused on fiscal discipline, structural reforms and creating a more investment-friendly environment to encourage private-sector participation in the economy.

During the meeting, Asyad Group reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the longstanding economic and commercial relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
