Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan hears 14 smuggling cases

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan heard 14 cases of smuggling involving millions of rupees filed by the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Faisalabad, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhang, import and DTRE branches.

According to details, Faisalabad ASO registered five cases of smuggling against the accused persons. A case was registered against M Malik Naseer who is allegedly involved in bringing foreign origin diesel generator worth Rs 1828668 into country without payment of duty and taxes, while another case was filed against Zareen Khan who is allegedly involved in smuggling of Milano cigarettes worth Rs 1331593. The ASO also submitted a case of unclaimed used Toyota Mark x car bearing registration No, LEF-13-4819 worth Rs 26,50,000, a case of Manzoor Khan who is involved in non duty paid Toyota Mark X car bearing registration No, 4341 worth Rs 26,50,000. A case of smuggling of cigarettes lighter tobaco, and different brand of cigarettes worth Rs 2451305 were also submitted to the Customs Adjudication against unknown persons.

Furthermore, the adjudication heard four cases, which were submitted by Mianwali ASO, including a case of used Hino truck filed against Mir Ahmad, a case of Toyota Premio motor car against Fahid yaqoob. The ASO forward a case against Amer Khan who is allegedly involved in smuggling of cloth and miscleanous items worth Rs 1480087 and a case against accused person namely Jehanzeb Khan who is allegedly involved in Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1316109 which were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Additional Collector Beelam ur Ramzan heard two other cases submitted by Sargodha ASO against Qaleem Raza who is allegedly involved in smuggling of Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration no. LHH-7904 worth Rs 1311360 and a case of used foreign origin Hino truck Dumper worth Rs 2884320 against Muhammad Saleem.

The Customs Import branch sent two other cases to adjudication for legal action. The cases were filed against M/s W.A International Company involved in smuggling of sticker paper and M/s Batalvi Enterprises which brought a consignment of pliers 140-kgs  etc on the base of fake documents.

The Faisalabad Customs DTRE branch forwarded one case of smuggling to Customs Adjudication involving duty and taxes against the M/s Pak Kono. The additional collector after hearing adjourned some of cases until next hearing.
