Sargodha ASO seizes compressors, non duty paid Mazda truck

FAISALABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign origin compressors along with non duty paid  vehicle worth Rs 18, 00,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 14, 00,000 during an action.

According to details, Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received credible information that some items are being smuggled. After receiving the information he immediately formed a team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Bashir Ahmed, Anser Saleemi, Mehar Ameer Ali, Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Hafiz Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Shafqat Mehmood, Sardar Hussain and Muhammad Mansha.

The above mentioned ASO team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing Registration No. LHO-4880 which was coming from Rawalpindi and heading towards Jhang via Sargodha near Bhera Interchange and recovered of foreign origin airman compressors model PDS-390 S.

The ASO team asked the driver who was identified as Muhammad Shakeel to produce documents regarding the possession and transportation of these compressors but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

After his failure the ASO team seized the compressors under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 for violation of section 2(S), 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969.

ASO authorities after registering a case of smuggling against driver started further investigations.
