DG Valuations issues Order in Revision of Sulphonic Acid

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Syed Tanveer Ahmed Order in Revision of sulphonic acid Revision No, 283/2016 under section 25-D of the Customs Act 1069 against Valuation Ruling No, 999/2016. Hearing in the case was fixed on 28-12-1016. The stakeholders stated that the local manufacturer M/s Tufail chemicals industries (50,000 MT) and M/s Colgate industries (20,000 MT) are producing 80% of Pakistan requirement subject Items, M/s Tufail Chemicals Industries Limited are the largest supplier in the local market and M/s Colgate industries are meeting their own requirements. M/s Tufail Chemicals also agreed to fix the value of linear alkyl benzene sulphonic acid at 1160 per metric ton and 1150 per metric ton for Iran.

According to details, Customs Valuation has gone through the record of the case and submission by all the stakeholder i.e. commercial importer and local manufacturer of these items. The arguments of the importers and local manufacturer have been considered. The value of the items was checked from ICIS (scam).The International data confirmed that the prevailing value of Alkyl benzene sulphonic acid is US$ 1160 metric ton. The Customs Values of linear alkyl benzene sulphonic acid (all origin) is determined at US$ 1160 per metric ton whereas for land route of Iranian origin goods is fixed at US$ 1150 /MT accordingly.
