Customs ASO confiscates smuggled goods worth Rs 3.2m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has foiled an attempt to smuggle non-duty paid goods along with offending Mazda truck worth Rs 3.2 million.

ASO Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that in pursuance of information, that a truck loaded with smuggled goods is heading towards Rawalpindi, the deputy collector immediately formed a team and established a check post near Burhan, on GT road Rawalpindi.

The ASO team started checking of vehicles and intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration number LLI-5178. The ASO staff asked the possessor to show documents regarding the possession and transportation of the goods which he could not show. After his failure the ASO team seized the non-duty paid goods which includes 1,165 kilogram foreign origin fabric, 750 kilogram Closic mid milk and 49 submersible nosel pump.

He said that the ASO team, after registering a case against the smugglers, submitted the seized goods to state warehouse and forwarded the case I&P Department for further investigation.

The ASO staff took part in the said seizure comprised Deputy Superintend Rana Shakeel and Deputy Superintend Matloob Hussain Shah.
