Rs5b tax collected from retailers

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has promulgated Act 40 B to achieve target in Gujranwala and Sialkot Regions.

Official sources told Customs Today that these regions have started raids on sweets’ shops and bakeries to collect tax and they collected tax more than Rs5 billion whereas the campaign will continue during the month of January.

Sources added that the department has done survey of the above mentioned shops and bakeries and the team reviewed that the shopkeepers are earning in billions per month but they are not paying sales tax.

FBR allowed the Chief Commissioners of Regional Tax Office (RTO’s) Gujranwala and Sialkot Regions that they promulgate Act 40 B and take stern action against tax evaders. Chief Commissioners of both regions compliance the order of FBR and promulgated 40 B Act to take action against shops of sweets and bakeries to collect tax.

The commissioners have constituted teams which started raids on these shops whereas the teams are collecting sales tax from shopkeepers according to routine sales.

Sources told that the teams are checking the sales and production of said shops. Commissioner Imran Raza Kazmi told that the RTO’s has constituted teams to collect sales and other taxes of FBR from said shops whereas the officers and officials of RTO’s will check the accounts and other financial matters of sweets and bakeries shops to collect taxes. He said that the both regions has collected more than Rs5 billion from said shops during various raids.
