Customs Intelligence, FIU seizes smuggled items worth Rs39.520m in Dec

FAISALABAD: During a Joint operation Customs Intelligence and Investigation and Field Investigation Unity (FIU), Khushab have confiscated smuggled items worth Rs39.520 million in December 2016, involving duty and taxes of Rs10.912 million.

Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Intelligence teams on the instructions of the Additional Director Rubab Sikandar conducted various raids to curb smuggling in the region. The team conducted raids at Shiekpura Road, Jhang Road and Sargodha Rroad. The teams impounded seven vehicles worth Rs5.100 million being used for smuggling transportation of smuggled goods.

As per the detail, The Customs Intelligence Faisalabad seized Foreigin origin, polyester mesh ( knitted fabric ), 11000-Kgs worth Rs5.758 million involving in customs duty and taxes Rs3.280 million, computer systems worth Rs6.347 million involving customs duty Rs1.288 million, used LCD, monitor of different brands worth Rs1.787 million involving customs duty of Rs577,107.

The teams also confiscated smuggled goods included computer systems worth Rs9.839 million involving in customs duty of Rs2.059 million, laptops worth Rs6.881 million involving customs duty and of Rs 1.305 million, food processor worth Rs2.048 million involving custom duty Rs1.469 million, used computer system worth Rs6.858 million involving customs Rs932,955.

During the actions the customs official asked the accused persons to produce the legal document of the above mentioned items but they were failed to produce the same.

The intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence officer Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Siddique, Mohammad Saleem and Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmed, Shoukat Hayat participated in the operation. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
