DG Customs Valuation issues order in revision against VR No.900/2016

KARACHI: Director General Customs Valuation Syed Tanveer Ahmed issues order in Revision No. 286/2017 under section 25-D of the Customs Act, 1969 against Valuation Ruling No.900/2016 dated 04-08-2016 ; the revision petition was filed by M/s Silver Surgical Complex (Pvt.) Ltd.

The petitioner stated that the current valuation of tubular metal needles those are used in medical devices (ready to uses packed) is fixed at much lower side as per international market price under Section 25-(9) as market Survey.

Director General Customs Valuation Syed Tanveer Ahmed in his order stated the petitioner requested to revise the values upwardly for $7.5 to $ 24/kg. The contention of the manufacturer is correct that they are importing needles at $24 – $ 30/kg. Even considering the transaction value, the valuation ruling should have been around S 3.0/kg for item No.3&4 instead of $ 7.5/kg.

Be that as it may, the impugned valuation ruling No.900/2016 dated 04-08-2016 is remanded back to the Director of Customs Valuation for deciding it afresh on merit and in accordance with law and that too after giving the applicant a fair opportunity of hearing within 10 days of issuance of this order.
