FBR decides to make entire FTA system “online” to facilitate businessmen

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue FBR has planned to make the “Free Trade Agreement (FTA) system with Indonesia, Malasyia, and Thailand “online” in order to facilitate the importers and traders’ community.

The sources informed Customs Today that the FBR officlas recently held a meeting in which they decided to make the FTA system with the countries including Indonesia, Malasyia, and Thailand “online” same as the pattern of China.

It is pertinent to mention here that the FBR has already made the “online” FTA System with China and also decided to adopt the same pattern with other FTA included countries.

The sources further informed this scribe that the FBR given the task to the officers concerns to formulate the entire process and expedite the procedure in connection with finalization of FTA “online system” to other countries except China.

The importers and traders’ bodies have also hailed the step taken by the FBR in order to make the other countries FTA system “Online”.

It may be mentioned here that 95 percent import is conducting with China in recent days, although the FBR while taking consideration has decided to make the entire FTA system “Online”.

Replying to a query, the sources informed this scribe that the FBR within the period of three months or so make the entire FTA system “online” in order to minimize the time period of clearing the imported consignments through FTA.
