Custom Court directs suspect to appear on next hearing

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has directed the suspect, Abdul Ghaffar, owner of M/s G & S Manufacture, to ensure his appearance before the Customs Court on the next date of hearing. The suspect was booked in a case of mis-declaration.

During the hearing, Accused Noman s/o Abdul Rauf, import manger of M/s AMI Pakistan (Pvt) Limited was present on after arrest bail vide order dated June 25, 2016. Another suspect, Sharjeel Jamal s/o Jamaluddin, owner of M/s R.J Enterprises was also present on the bail granted by Sindh High Court (SHC). However, Abdul Ghaffar was absent without any intimation, therefore, the court adjourned the hearing for February 6, 2017 and directed him to ensure his appearance before the court on the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, a case was registered against the suspects on the complaint of Ashfaq-ur-Rahman, investigation officer, of model customs collectorate east under sections 16, 32 (1) 32 (2) 32A, 79 of the customs act, 1969 punishable under clauses 9, 14, 14A, 46 of section 156 (1) of the custom act, 1969 read with import & export (control) act, 1950.
