Sialkot Customs to launch crackdown on Gujranwala petrol pumps soon

SIALKOT: The Pakistan Customs Department and Customs Intelligence are all set to launch a major crackdown on the petrol pumps located in outskirts of Gujranwala region which are involved in sale of smuggled Iranian fuel, it is learnt. The operation will be launched by the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department against six districts of Gujranwala Region namely Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahawaldin.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier the ASO of MCC Sialkot and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department had launched operations against more than 12 fuel stations in Gujranwala Region. According to sources, now the grand operation will be conducted on GT and other main roads. Sources told Customs Today that the department concerned will also raid shops in rural areas where shopkeepers are selling smuggled Iranian fuel.
