Sialkot Customs earns Rs17.82m as customs duty in seven months

SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot has collected revenue of Rs17.82million under head of customs duty in seven months starting from July 2016 till January 2017.

According to detail, the MCC Sialkot has surpassed the revenue collection under the head of customs duty made by it during the corresponding period of last year to the tune of Rs14.96million. Official sources said the Sialkot region had collected Rs7.63million as customs duty during June 2015.

The official of MCC Sialkot said the department is striving to achieve the revenue collection target under all heads for the running Fiscal Year FY2016-17. The official also denied the impression that customs officials receive customs duty in advance from the importers to meet the targets. Responding to a query, the official said the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has to revise the revenue collection targets sometimes keeping in view the unfavourable circumstances.

He added that the tax collection is increasing every year due to effective policies of the department. He said the MCC Sialkot has got the best reputation and good name in the books of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He said MCC Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan is taking keen interest in achieving the target. He said the officers and officials will get awards and cash prizes if they get success to achieve target.

Deputy Collector Waheed Anwar Abro told Customs Today that the MCC Sialkot will not only achieve the target assigned by the FBR but it will surpass the target during Fiscal Year FY2016-17.
