ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) foiled a smuggling attempt and confiscated miscellaneous items worth Rs3.34 million and arrested an accused from GT Road Rawalpindi-Peshawar.
Deputy Collector Ansir Anees told Customs Today that in pursuance of intelligence, the ASO staff geared up road checking at GT Road Rawalpindi-Peshawar. The ASO staff, while searching the vehicles, intercepted a Hino bus bearing registration No: Z-6966-KPK and recovered miscellaneous foreign origin goods.
The ASO staff asked the possessor to show documents regarding legal possession and transportation of the goods. But he remained failed to provide any required document.
Ansir said that after his failure, the ASO staff confiscated the non-duty paid items and arrested one accused under the Section-168 and 157 of the Customs Act-1969 after serving notice under section 171 ibid.
She said that the seized items were include 1444 kilogram ball barring and HD digital satellite receiver worth Rs1.84 million. The ASO staff also impounded the offending bus. The value of the impounded bus is estimated as Rs1.5 million.
Deputy Collector Ansir Anees told that the ASO team took part in said seizure was comprised Superintendent Zargham Dil, Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel and Deputy Superintendent Matloob Hussain Shah.
