Gawadar customs seizes non-duty paid HSD worth Rs31.8m near Turbat-Pasni road

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MMC) Gawadar foiled a smuggling attempt and seized Iranian origin high speed diesel worth Rs31.8 million from Turbat-Pasni road.

According to the details, Customs Gawadar launched a massive operation against the smugglers of high speed diesel and contraband items in collaboration with intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

The customs Gawadar received a tip-off regarding transportation of smuggled diesel. The customs staff immediately established a check post at Turbat-Pasni road and started checking vehicles.

While searching, the customs staff intercepted five tankers filled with smuggled Iranian diesel. The drives tried to escape but after a long run the customs officers nabbed the drivers.

During the search of the tankers the customs officers found the five tankers were filled with the Iranian high speed diesel worth Rs31.8 million. The customs staff asked the drivers to produce documents regarding legal possession and transportation of diesel. The all five drivers remained failed to provide any required document.

The customs staff confiscated the foreign origin diesel and impounded the offending tankers.

Sources said that the tankers were filled with 165000 liter high speed diesel and its market price was estimated as Rs31.8 million.

Meanwhile, in another raid the customs staff Ormara station seized 200 bottles of foreign origin liquor dumped near Hudh Goth, Ormara. The market value of the sized liquor is Rs 0.7 million.

The customs Gawadar has registered separate cases and forwarded them to the customs I&P department for further proceeding.
