Customs ASO working devotedly: Chief Collector Samaira Nazir

LAHORE: Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir has said that Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization is working diligently and mega seizure of over 9300 bags of skimmed milk of Afghan Transit Trade is a testimony to the fact.

She was addressing a press conference held here at the Customs House Lahore Nabha Road. She said that the case is of immense importance as it can be considered as one of the biggest case in the history of Punjab that any Customs establishment has done.

She said that the team has been motivated and instructed to conduct more such mega seizures to bring smuggling activities to its lowest ebb.

Smugglers are also well-equipped and good on latest technology usage, hence, the Customs Central Region has also taken a number of measures to counter the smugglers, Nazir informed.

“We have stared training program for our field forces and are imparting them on modern lines which definitely will bring out good results,” she added. She said investigations are underway in the seizure of the skimmed milk to discover more facts.

To a question collector of Customs said that a seizure has been registered and sample would be sent to forensic laboratory so that it could be determined whether or not the skimmed milk is spurious and dangerous for the human health.

She added that in order to curb the menace of smuggling we have reinvigorated the anti-smuggling team and positively getting good results.

She hoped that in future more such mega crackdowns will be conducted to get good results eliminating the smuggling activities.

Additional Collector of Customs Nayyer Shafique, Assistant Collector Asim Awan, Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian and other officials of Customs were present on the occasion.
