Peshawar Customs auctions fetch Rs23.2m income during January

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Peshawar Auction Cell collected revenue of Rs23.2million through public auctions of seized goods and vehicles during January of Financial Year2016-17.

According to details told by Superintendent Auction Cell MCC Peshawar AlHaj Gul that during the 1st auction of 3nd quarter of FY2016-17, the Auction Cell generated handsome revenue by auctioning off non-duty paid vehicles and goods. The customs stations, falling under the jurisdiction of the MCC Peshawar, include Kohat division which held auctions of smuggled goods and vehicles separately but all the revenue collection was deposited into the account of the MCC Peshawar.

Sources said that during the above said period, the MCC Peshawar earned revenue of Rs18.73million and the Kohat division Auction Cell got revenue of Rs.4.47million through auctions.

Sources said the customs collectorate already expedited its efforts to collect the outstanding amount from defaulters. The Auction Cell is preparing for another auction which will be held before the end of 2nd week of February 2017.
