ATIR adjourns hearing of outstanding taxes

ISLAMABAD: An Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) adjourned the hearing of tax matters challenging the issuance of show cause notices to M/s Aftab Traders and M/s Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company during the previous week of February.

ATIR Accountant Member Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti heard the cases.

M/s Aftab Traders had contested the show cause notices issued by the field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue.

According to details, M/s Aftab Traders had challenged the recovery of outstanding income tax by the Regional Tax Office Islamabad.

M/s Aftab Traders had submitted that the department had issued the demand for the tax year 2012 under the head of income tax under the provisions of Income Tax Ordinance-2001.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of RTO including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate M/s Aftab Traders, prayed that the assessment order issued by the RTO officer was illegal, unlawful and without legal grounds.

M/s Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company had contested the show cause notices issued by the field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue.

According to details, M/S Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company had challenged the recovery of outstanding income tax by the LTU Islamabad.

M/s Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company had submitted that the department had issued the demand for the tax year 2014 under the head of income tax under the provisions of Income Tax Ordinance-2001.
