FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has seized foreign origin (F/O) miscellaneous items worth Rs1.82million involving duty and taxes.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received a tip-off that non-duty paid or smuggled items are being transported from Lahore to Sargodha. The ASO team reached the place pointed out by the informer and found 17 rolls of cloths, stationery and other goods lying on the roadside.
The team asked Imran Hassan to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items. He showed a receipt No: 7787 issued by 786 Superstar Goods Forwarding Agency Lahore but he could not provide any proof of the import on the spot. The officials seized the goods under the customs bylaws.
The manager was directed to inform the owner of the goods to produce documents of lawful import against the recovered cloths besides registering a case against Muhammad Kamran son of Muhammad Bashir.
The raiding party, comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Bashir Ahmed, Anser Saleemi, Mehar Ameer Ali, Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Hafiz Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Shafqat Mehmood, Sardar Hussain and Muhammad Mansha, foiled the smuggling bid collectively.
